Mitchell-Deane-V5.doc

This reading is a work in progress by Prof. Ron Mitchell and Prof. Glenn Deane. It lays out a statistical analysis that I hope to use as a model for my research. It is kind of long so you could focus on the Introduction, Theoretical Setup, Definitions, Possible Mechanisms and Locations of Institutional Influence, Specifying the model to address institutional influence, the Data and Variables section, Findings and Conclusions. I hope that is not too much...:)

My research question is: Are the country specific emissions ceilings found in the Gothenburg protocol more effective at reducing VOC emissions than the blanket reduction approach found in the VOC protocol?

My hypothesis for now is that the country specific emissions ceilings are more effective at reducing VOC emissions.

The dependent variable for this analysis, as in the Mitchell and Deane paper, will be percent change in emissions from one year to the next.
